The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), College of Dentistry seeks applicants for the position of Chair, Department of Periodontology. This is a full-time, tenure or non-tenure track (to be mutually determined), faculty position. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Primary responsibilities of this position include: (1) manage a diverse faculty, staff and student body; (2) department administration; (3) faculty and staff development; (4) develop and manage preclinical and clinical periodontal educational programs; and (5) facilitate department research and service activities. Involvement in interprofessional (IPE) education collaboration is also expected. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Dentistry.
The successful candidate must have a DDS/DMD from an ADA accredited dental program or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensure in the State of Tennessee. Applicants trained at an accredited postgraduate program in Periodontology and those that possess an associated M.S. or Ph.D. degree are preferred. Certification from the American Board of Periodontology is also preferred. The successful candidate should have a work history of involvement in teaching, service, and scholarly activity. Excellent interpersonal skills and prior administrative experience in health science education will be favorably considered.
